Dr. Jelinski is a dedicated teacher who has won many teaching awards. The one he is most pleased with is the Excellence Award for Superior Teaching awarded by the Montana Association of Language Teachers in 1997. Dr. Jelinski has presented workshops on teaching techniques and new ways of understanding grammar concepts at state, regional and national conferences for many years. He has also published his research in those areas in scholarly journals. He is one of those very fortunate teachers who is able to bring his research to the classroom to share with his students in the beginning Spanish classes, the advanced grammar and linguistics classes, and in his course on Don Quixote. This is because many of the areas in which he conducts research coincide with the techniques and content pertinent to many of the courses he traditionally teaches in the Spanish program. He has taught at several universities but considers the students at Montana State to be the best because they have a great work ethic and have not yet been seduced by the superficial vanities of the world. -- Maybe it's the mountains.
