MSU Native American students receive national recognition
Denean Standing, an Assiniboine-Sioux from Ft. Peck, Khena Bullshields, a Blood Indian from both Bigfork and Canada, and Miriam Stewart, a Crow Indian from Crow Agency, each won national research awards at the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science conference in San Antonio, Texas in November. They were recognized from among 3,000 students and 500 entries for excellence of their scientific posters and presentations. Read more...
     
MSU president convenes inaugural council of Montana tribal elders
Elders from Montana's seven tribes joined MSU administrators and Indian students during the newly inaugurated MSU Council of Elders that met on the MSU campus on November 4. The meeting was convened by MSU President Geoff Gamble and Dr. Henrietta Mann, an Indian scholar and special assistant to the president. Gamble also unveiled plans for a new Native American Student Center. Read more...
