The Empower Program ("Empower") fosters the inclusion and success of underrepresented minorities and women in engineering and other fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) at MSU. The Empower program provides a variety of support to all underrepresented students in STEM programs across campus.

Empower is housed in the Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering, and includes MSU's Women in Engineering Program.

The Empower Student Center in Norm Asbjornson Hall 267 provides a welcoming study area, student conference room, kitchenette, and numerous resouces, including:

  • dedicated staff to assist students wtih academic and non-academic concerns
  • free "drop-in" and individual tutoring for math, physics, chemistry and other subjects
  • activities to ease transition to life at MSU for underrepresented students in STEM
  • professional and academic enrichment seminars and opportunities to network with STEM leaders
  • guidance in arranging research internships and summer internships/jobs
  • advising and financial support for minority student organizations
  • information and assistance with scholarships
  • free printing/copying services
