Course overview

AGSC 291 course is a two-credits Special Topics Course listed in the Montana University System (MUS) Catalog, and transferable to any MUS institution. The course will be taught by a team of faculty of Montana State University and Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC), and delivered from Flathead Valley Community College online platform. Successful students (course GPA at least 3.0) will be able to apply for a paid internship in one of the selected occupations. This course has a maximum capacity of 25-30 students per semester.

Course learning outcomes:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the historical and current roles of women in agriculture, nationally and globally
  • Discuss the challenges and opportunities for women pursuing agricultural occupations in the 21st century
  • Conduct case study and personal interview to research agricultural careers of interest
  • Explore and describe the conditions for success in selected agricultural occupations

Scholarships

Scholarships are available to cover 60% of the cost of the course for Montana University System students. There are 20 scholarships available for Fall 2018 and 25 scholarships for Spring 2019.

Deadlines

This two-credit online course will be offered in the Fall semester of 2018 and Spring of 2019. The Fall 2018 course will  run for 8 weeks (Aug 29-Oct 26). The preferred application submission deadlines are: Fall admission (August 15, 2018) and Spring admission (December 16, 2018).

Register

Registration is open now! In order to register for the class, FVCC requires you to apply for admission with the college.  This can be done online. We can work with you on registration questions, but unless you plan to earn a degree at FVCC or attend classes here on campus, you should apply as a non-degree seeking online only student. Once you have been accepted as a student, you can register for the AGSC 291 course online.
