Call to Order
I. Welcome to Senators (Chair Babcock)
II. President Cruzado
III. Regional Initiatives in Dental Education (RIDE) – first reading (Chair Elect Richards)
· Developed in 2008 by the University of Washington of School of Dentistry (UWSOD)
· Increase access to publicly-funded dental education for students from the NW by partnering with WWAMI
· Dental students share WWAMI’s first year curriculum at a WWAMI regional site supplemented by specific dental topics
· Open to eight Montana residents per year (total = 32 in program)
· RIDE is a 4-year program
i. Year 1: course work at WWAMI regional medical school site (MSU-Bozeman)
ii. Year 2: advanced training at the Spokane-RIDE site
iii. Year 3: specialized rotations at the UWSOD main campus
iv. Year 4: rotations in rural community and Native American health centers in home state
· RIDE Program needs
i. Classroom & student space shared with WWAMI
ii. Creation of dental lab
iii. Staff
iv. Director
v. Program administrator (operations manager)
vi. 3 to 4 faculty (part-time)
vii. Dental technician (part-time)
viii. Distance learning IT specialist
IV. New Course for FS consideration
AGED 363: Agricultural Youth Even Planning & Management BIOH 303: Introduction to Global Health
EDU 690: Doctoral Thesis FRCH 255: French on Stage
NASX 555: Activism and Indigeneity SOCI 437: Communities & Crime
Approved by CPC or GC. If no concerns are raised, these courses will be discussed and potentially voted on by FS steering
