Barn

Built in 1927 the Lamar Buffalo Ranch barn contributes to the Lamar Buffalo Ranch historic district and has been fully functional for nearly 100 years, housing horses and storing hay. Hay was cut from the Lamar Valley to feed to bison throughout the operation and is now brought in from outside “weed free” sources outside the park to feed NPS horses used for the backcountry operation.

This unique historic barn retains much of its original charm both inside and out. It has fallen into disrepair and will undergo some restoration work to repair and replace exterior logs and supports in 2020 and 2021.
