Election Process

MSU All Staff Council consists of thirty-three elected members, plus a program coordinator.  Each spring MSUASC will announce open seats for the upcoming year.  Eligible employees may nominate a coworker or themselves.  Employees will have two weeks to make their nominations.  Prior to the election, all nominees will be contacted to confirm their willingness to serve.  A final ballot will be sent out electronically; voters will have one week to cast their vote.  Once elected to MSUASC, council members are appointed to an internal or external committee. For more information, please see our Committees page.

If a council member is unable to fulfill their two-year term, the Governance Committee will review the ballots from the proceeding election to determine the candidate next in line.  That candidate will be contacted and offered the vacant seat for the remainder of the term.

Eligibility

To be eligible to appear on the ballot, an individual must be an MSU classified, professional, or contract staff member (non-instructional employee) with an FTE of 0.5 or higher, who has completed their probationary period.  Fixed-term, temporary, and student workers are not eligible to serve.  Supervisor approval is required.  For more information on the terms, requirements, and estimated time commitments please see the MSUASC Operating Agreement.
