2016
Congrats to Angela Hoffman!
Angela was nominated by Ana Murphy from LRES. In the nomination, Ana said...
Sometimes the smallest changes can give us the greatest benefits. I am SO GRATEFUL for what might seem like a small change. The new sorting by ascending date order will save me quite a bit of time when I need to look into the history of our PCard charges. Unfortunately, I need to do this more often than I'd prefer. Thank you for one less headache and frustration. When I discovered this new update in FZAINVT I was just "tickled pink". I sure do appreciate all our IT support team does for us.
Thank you again, Ana

Congrats to Cherie Eck and Mike Hitch!
Winners' names were drawn and Mike Hitch is the lucky recipient of lunch on UIT!
Cherie was nominated by Spencer Clark
Cherie just saved us hundreds of future calls and emails asking about email addresses for new employees related to email address population in Banner. She discussed a manual process previously performed by HR personnel with Tom Hoffman and Paul Lindsay, and asked Deb Felkey to put the auto creation of email addresses into banner since all new employees are now first.last#@montana.edu.
Mike was nominated by Tom Parker.
I want to nominate Hitch for yet another timesaver award. He spent 20 minutes recoding a portion of our inventory software and thereby saving me over 2 days of hand creating and populating spreadsheets necessary for planning the new data center. That man is a lifesaver! Thank you!
Congrats to Pat Widhalm!
Pat was nominated by Dorie Seymour.
Congrats to Paul Lindsay, Cass Powell, & the ESG Business Services Team!
Winners' names were drawn and Paul Lindsey is the lucky recipient of lunch on UIT.
Paul Lindsay nominated by Desirae Lindquist
Huge thanks to Paul Lindsay who has been helping Julie and me (and a few others) learn how to use and implement the TeamWork Project tool. He has quickly become the TW Project guru and is always available and happy to assist with questions and troubleshooting in the tool. And he’s always very patient which comes in handy when I forget how to do something and have to ask him a few times before I remember. Thanks Paul!
Cass Powell nominated by Cherie Eck & Pol LLovet
I would like to nominate Cass Powell for the time saver award. Cass has made the search process efficient and saved the committee a great deal of time. Cass has stepped us through the process, kept us on time, has all the required documents prepared and herded the candidates into time slots that works for everyone. Cass’s additional efforts in making the searches much better for candidates and the search committee are greatly appreciated.
~ Cherie
I am thoroughly impressed with how smoothly the search is going, and I was thinking that Cass should get nominated for helping with the committee.
~ Pol
The ESG Business Services team: Tom Hoffman, Liza Heer, Paul Lindsay, Steve Dysart, and Steve Cook, nominated by Jerry Spicher
The work they did in the effort of bringing Choices Enrollment to life was terrific. Making this process so smooth, quick, and easy requires a lot more work and testing behind the scenes than may be readily apparent.
Our April Timesaver Winner:
Dorie Seymour nominated by Tom Hoffman
I nominate Dorie. She recently caught the wrong date on a travel expense voucher saving Cook and I a bunch of running around. Great job as usual Dorie!
Our March Timesaver Winner:
The Linux Crew (Mike, Martin, and Lisa) nominated by Jerry Spicher
I'd like to have a big shout-out to the Linux crew. Between Hitch working late yesterday evening while apparently quite ill (I swear I didn't know when I first started talking to him), and Martin and Lisa devoting a lot of time today, and well into this evening, they were able to successfully restore a critical management server for us. We've never had anything less than excellent service from that crew, and appreciate their above-and-beyond service in this event!
Our February Timesaver Winner:
Jacob Hahn nominated by Lyle Williams
I needed permissions to link a GPO to a specific group in order to test something that was time sensitive. He whipped the permissions out for me so I was able to complete my task. Also, he’s a great guy!
Our January Timesaver Winner:
Heath White nominated by Pol Llovet
Heath has been helpful numerous times (not just this month) in helping to negotiate networking solutions for research problems. He's awesome. This month he has been indispensable in helping to the the FIONA workstation connected to the Science DMZ. And we are only 5 days in!
2015
Our December Timesaver Winner is Ellen Hall.
Ellen Hall nominated by Cathy Moberg
As my Sympa trainer/mentor, any time I have questions about Sympa, and/or need assistance with a Sympa project, Ellen is my go-to person, and she has the expertise which steers me in the right direction.
Most recently, Ellen graciously agreed to help us with a large Sympa project. As part of the process of migrating other departments to the montana.edu domain, we needed to manually update the email address, in Sympa, for each individual in each of those groups—on EACH listserv of which they are a member or owner.
Some of those individuals are members of anywhere from 15 to 40 listservs, so this resulted in some very time-consuming updates. Thanks to Ellen’s fast work, we have updated 539 individuals in Sympa, to date. And around 400 of those have been completed by Ellen alone!
Saying “Thank you!” does not seem to be thanks enough for all of her help. So, I’d also like to share my thanks by nominating her for the Timesaver award.
Thank you, Ellen!!
Our November Timesaver Winners are Cass Powell, Dorie Seymour and Reeves Petroff! Following a coin toss, Cass and Dorie will receive lunch on UIT.
Cass Powell and Dorie Seymour - nominated by Jerry Spicher
I'd like to nominate Dorie and Cass for the timesaver award. In addition to the many ways they make our lives much easier during the normal course of business, they've really stepped in and provided fantastic support for the MT Hall 314 remodeling effort!
Reeves Petroff - nominated by Desirae Lindquist
Huge thank you to Reeves for helping me carry my moving boxes full of my office junk from my current space in MT Hall over to my temporary space in Renne. I had planned to move all of my boxes myself throughout the day, but Reeves graciously stepped in and offered to carry them over for me. He saved me a lot of time and heavy lifting in between meetings. Thanks Reeves!
Our October Timesaver winner is Vicky Lund. Congratulations and thank you for your hard work and support of your peers and UIT. Vicky will receive a free lunch from UIT.
Vicky Lund - Nominated by Kyle Reynolds
I would like to nominate Vicky Lund for the timesaver award. The customer service she provided today while helping me with forwarding my calls to my cell phone was exceptional. Beginning to end, 20 minutes. I was thoroughly impressed.
Our September Timesaver awardees are Jason Rosen and Dorie Seymour! Congratulations to both of you and thank you for your hard work and support of your peers and UIT.
We drew a name from this month's winners and Jason Rosen will receive a free lunch from UIT.
Jason Rosen - Nominated by Josh Turner
I am proud to nominate someone who has, in my opinion, gone above and beyond what is asked of him to help make sure the students, faculty and staff at Montana State have everything they need to be successful. This person continually demonstrates a willingness to take on projects like ReadWrite Gold, Box, WebEx and Spark and see them to successful completion. He has a high level of attention to detail, is dependable, efficient, patient and always answers my many questions with a helpful smile. This person has saved not only myself, but many of his coworkers lots of frustration and time. He is an invaluable asset to UIT and I am pleased to nominate Jason Rosen for the Timesaver award for September 2015.
Dorie Seymour - Nominated by Pol Llovet
Dorie has saved me time on countless occasions and she is an all-around great source for any information pertinent to UIT…for this reason I nominate her for the Timesaver award. Seriously, she deserves props. And a sweet trophy.
Sam Taylor - Nominated by Lyle Williams
No but seriously, real talk, he got me an IP address over the phone while I was on site 4th floor in Linfield Hall...so I could test out a desktop I was working on and he saved me a bunch of time and having to reschedule and leave and come back. It was great. Kudos to Sam Taylor, a True UIT Hero.
Tom Hoffman/Liza Heer - Nominated by Lisa Buss
Hi Tom and Liza,
We want to THANK YOU both for working on and successfully modifying the PERS report
– inserting termination dates for upload directly to PERS for the non-contributors!
This month the above modification saved HR (Ange/Lorraine and sometimes myself as
well) from entering 260 terminations dates manually into the PERS system.
Which equates to anywhere from an hour (if the PERS system is on its best behavior
and the individual entering has no interruptions) to almost 2 hours of time!
In high volume months this will save us 3 or more hours of time!
THANK YOU!!
Kind regards,
Lisa
Kyle Madsen/Kelly Mullins - Nominated by Kim Obbink
I would like to nominate Kyle Madsen (and Kelly Mullins) for the first golden shotglass ;-) award for the work they are doing to virtualize the student labs. It is impressive and will create huge efficiencies in time and effort to maintain those labs.
Nominate Exceptional UIT Employees!
To nominate one of your peers for a Timesaver award send an email to Dorie Seymour with your nomination by the last day of each month.
