We have removed state, provincial, and federal boundaries to draw focus on the connections between Buffalo Nations peoples within this biocultural map Together we are seeing people and place with new eyes.

The Buffalo Nations Biocultural Region of the Northern Plains and Rockies represents a homeland in which a web of relationship with buffalo at the center operated in the past as a traditional Indigenous food system. Biodiversity and cultural diversity went hand-in-hand in this food system.

Together as buffalo nations relatives, we are working to renew biocultural connections in this region and to restore intertribal food sovereignty.
