The Office of Legal Counsel provides legal advice and representation to Montana State University. The Office of Legal Counsel advises the University administration on a broad range of initiatives, policy matters, and issues. In addition, the Office of Legal Counsel oversees litigation conducted by outside counsel, conducts contract review and provides educational programs and materials on legal issues. The role of the Office of Legal Counsel is to prevent or minimize legal risks in the performance of the daily business of the University. The office is comprised of Kellie Peterson, Legal Counsel and Jennifer Glad, Associate Legal Counsel.

MSU's Legal Counsel cannot provide legal advice or representation to individual faculty, staff or students in connection with personal legal matters.
