MSU's Legal Counsel provides legal advice and representation to Montana State University, its constituent units and its employees and student leaders while acting on the university's behalf. Legal Counsel advises the University administration on a broad range of initiatives, policy matters, and issues. In addition, the Office of Legal Counsel oversees litigation conducted by outside counsel, conducts contract review and provides educational programs and materials on legal issues. The role of the Office of Legal Counsel is to prevent or minimize legal risks in the performance of the daily business of the University. The office is comprised of Leslie Taylor, Legal Counsel; Pamela Merrell, Associate Legal Counsel and our Paralegal, Daryl Monroe-Bilotti.
MSU's Legal Counsel cannot provide legal advice or representation to individual faculty, staff or students in connection with personal legal matters. If you need personal legal advice or representation, you may be able to obtain information or assistance from the Faculty Staff Assistance Program for employees or ASMSU for students.
