Welcome to Montana State University

I'm honored to have been selected as the 12th president of this distinguished land-grant institution. When I visited MSU for the first time last October, and again during Ag Appreciation Weekend, I was deeply moved by the quality of the people I met. The warm and caring faculty and staff found here demonstrate a passion and commitment for supporting student success that truly sets us apart as a top-tier institution of learning. It is a privilege to be part of this talented group of people dedicating their lives to the kind of hands-on learning, cutting-edge research, and far-reaching service that transforms lives.

To that end, I plan to devote a lot of time in my first few months here in a series of Listening and Learning Sessions at our campuses and communities around the state. I encourage you to attend one of these sessions. Please view the schedule to find out when I'll be in or near your community. I expect this process to better familiarize me with the state and its people, and how the university can enhance its service to both.
