Joshua is using MRI to study transport of supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2) in porous media. Anthropogenic CO2 is a major contributor to global climate change, which may potentially be offset by sequestration in underground saline aquifers. To this end, an understanding of CO2 transport characteristics in porous rock is crucial to advancing and optimizing carbon storage solutions.
