B.S. Montana State University, Bozeman, MT. Microbiology (Medical Laboratory Science)

 

Katrina joined the Bimczok lab as an undergraduate in 2018. Her undergraduate research, funded by INBRE and the Irv Weissman Endowment, evaluated the therapeutic effects of black raspberries against stomach cancer using an organoid model of Helicobacter pylori infection. She began her graduate research in Fall 2020, investigating the physiological interplay of the mucus layer and pH gradient in the stomach. 

Outside of the lab, Katrina enjoys horseback riding, reading, weightlifting, music-making, and hiking with her dog.
