Wonderlust Friday Forum: The Future of TV and PBS in a Changing World
- Friday, March 14, 2014 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm
Join Wonderlust, a lifelong learning organization affiliated with MSU's Extended University, for a free Friday Forum. Eric Hyyppa, director and general manager of KUSM-TV, MontanaPBS, will discuss the future of TV and PBS.
Friday Forums are designed to raise topics of local interest, sometimes controversial or deal with rapid changes that are occurring. Regarding television, many are wondering where media is going, including public media, as well as television in general. Hyyppa will discuss such issues as: changing content producers, the move to on-demand and online access, the educational opportunities PBS offers, the changes and problems with distribution of content (cable, satellite, streaming, other), broadband to rural areas, and the divvying up of distribution by the FCC.
What will television look like in five years locally and nationally? What role will PBS play? You don't want to miss this timely look at the value of public media in a changing world. Co-sponsored by the Bozeman Library Foundation, this program takes place at the Bozeman Public Library. It is free and open to the public. Please bring your brown bag lunch and your curiosity.
