Aoide Chamber Singers: Christmas by Candlelight
- Friday, December 12, 2014 at 7:00pm
The Aoide Chamber Singers are a 19 voice student-organized ensemble based on the campus of Montana State University. Aoide was founded in the fall of 2012 by Andrew Major, a Bozeman-native studying Music and Cell Biology/Neuroscience. Aoide's repertoire ranges from Gregorian chant through contemporary literature. Aoide has performed across the state for several high schools and and in venues such as the Cathedral of St. Helena in our capital, St. Francis Xavier in Missoula, and Holy Rosary of Bozeman. This program features works of composers largely inspired by the tradition of Gregorian chant; in an interesting juxtapose, modern harmony is blended with authentic lines of chant to produce a wonderful balance of tension and release.
