Rejoice in the Lamb by Benjamin Britten performed by MSU Choirs and Livingston HS Choir
- Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm
- Hope Lutheran Church - 2152 Graf St, Bozeman, MT 59718
The MSU Chorale, Montanans, and the Livingston High School Concert Choir will join forces to perform Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb.
For this cantata, Britten chose Christopher Smart’s mystical poem, “Jubliate Agno,” which the eccentric Smart wrote during the seven years he spent in an insane asylum. The innovative poem combines animistic praise with alphabetical and numerological symbolism in a way that is both delightful and full of energy. Commissioned to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of St. Matthew’s Church in Northampton, it remains one of Britten’s most enduring works for chorus.
The Montanans, Chorale and Livingston High School choirs will all perform individually before combining to sing Britten’s spirited cantata.
$5 Adults, free to sudents (Tickets at the door)
