Nash Quinn B-Sides Exhibit at The Exit Gallery Opens September 19 and continues through October 7, 2016.
Arts and Exhibits and the Metalsmithing Department are collaborating to bring artist Nash Quinn to work with MSU students. All events are free and open to the public. On Tuesday, September 20th he will conduct a demonstration in Haynes 228 at 1:10 p.m. and a lecture in Cheever 214 at 6:00 p.m. A reception will be held at The Exit Gallery at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21st.
B-SIDES is an un-curated collection of experiments, sketches, one-offs, and side projects. It encompasses myriad metalsmithing techniques, and the work takes a variety of formats, from jewelry to vessels and mechanical objects. I produced many of these pieces on a whim, often with little regard to the intellectual merit of the finished product. As a result, this collection presents a raw, unpolished, and honest look at my studio practice and creative process. From sketches done on beer boxes to rings in sterling silver and brushed aluminum, B-SIDES is a conglomeration of the absurd, the profane, and the merely beautiful.
