"You Can Say That Again" will explore repetition in music. It can excite, lull, gently remind, and teach audience members new musical language. Sometimes the ostinato patterns become the foreground of the music and the basis of its architecture. This recital by MSU piano Professor Laurel Yost (piano) will feature works by Reich, Rzewski, Gorecki and Pärt. Prof Yost will be joined by Julia Slovarp (cello), Julie Gosswiller (piano), Mary Kothman (violin), and Greg Young (clarinet). MSU students Andrew Major (piano) and Ethan Hoerr (video synthesis) will join Prof. Yost to perform Reich's Piano Phase.
The recital is open to the public and will be at 3:00 on Sunday, January 29th, in the School of Music's Reynold's Recital Hall. Admission for adults is $10, students $5.
