Montana State University’s Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship is pleased to announce that the global marketing agencies R/GA and Havas will be coming to the MSU campus and hosting events with the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. They will co-present a public talk on the “The Power of Data, Design and Dreams or why successful teams need the brain of a math quant, the heart of an artist, and the mindset of a dreamer to fund an idea today.” The talk will be held Thursday, March 30th, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in Jabs Hall room 111.
The talk is free and open to the public with Q&A to follow.
During the talk, “The Power of Data, Design and Dreams,” all three companies will discuss how changes in technology, data and culture require teams to continually evolve and learn new skills. Attendees will be treated to a variety of real-world examples on how these trends are being merged together to create tomorrow’s companies. There will be a chance for public Q&A as well at the end.
Based in Brooklyn, New York, Kickstarter has risen to become a revolutionary force in helping companies around the world get funded through its online platform focused on creativity. With the stated mission to "help bring creative projects to life", Kickstarter has received nearly $2 billion in pledges from over 9.4 million backers to fund 257,000 creative projects, such as films, music, stage shows, comics, journalism, video games, technology and food-related projects.
Jon Leland, Senior Director of Strategy and Insights at Kickstarter, will be on campus to teach a workshop on “How to Get Your Project Funded on Kickstarter,” hold office hours with students and participate in the public talk. His work at the company spans data analysis, user research, strategic planning, community management and partnership development.
R/GA works alongside Fortune 500 companies helping them navigate how consumers interact with brands in the digital world across a variety of devices, screens and experiences in the connected age. Michael Piccuirro, Senior Technical Director at R/GA’s Prototype Studio, works on building prototypes for clients like Nike, Samsung, Google and Verizon. Michael and his team build a wide range of ideas from web and mobile applications to Alexa, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Arduino projects. This also marks the fourth year in a row MSU has hosted R/GA with deepening ties for internship opportunities and an expanding MSU alumni base within the agency.
In addition, the global agency, Havas, will be making its first trip to campus for recruiting and conducting workshops. Havas is one of the world's largest global communications groups. Founded in 1835 in Paris, the Group now employs 20,000 people in over 100 countries. Havas Group is committed to being the world’s best company at creating meaningful connections between people and brands through creativity, media and innovation. Havas has deep relationships with clients such as IBM, Dos Equis, TD Ameritrade and Hershey's to name a few.
Both R/GA and Havas will also be interviewing potential student candidates across business, engineering and design for its summer internship program. Interested students are encouraged to attend the talk on Thursday evening and learn more about the company’s work.
