MSU Wonderlust Friday Forum: Affordable Housing featuring Ralph Johnson of MSU Architecture
- Friday, December 15, 2017 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm
- Bozeman Public Library
MSU Wonderlust offers a free Friday Forum featuring Ralph Johnson of MSU speaking on affordable housing.
Ralph Johnson, an MSU professor of architecture, and his students will present their findings from a just-completed MSU research project on affordable housing in cities across the West.
Can we create and sustain affordable housing in the Bozeman area? What can we learn from the experience of other communities and what might be the keys to a successful program in Bozeman?
Ralph Johnson has taught at MSU since 1986. He is a licensed architect and active member of the American Institute of Architects and the American Planning Association. His research and creativity activities have focused on architectural design, urban and rural design as well as contemporary architectural theory. His book, Building From the Best of the Northern Rockies, articulates Johnson’s sustainable planning principles and illustrates, through case studies, many of the successes that have been achieved throughout the Northern Rockies.
He is currently working with a team of graduate students to design and build affordable energy efficient Tiny Homes that meet the requirement of the International Residential Code. In addition to his teaching, research and publications related to sustainable communities, Johnson is a frequently invited speaker and design consultant throughout the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Middle East regarding community development and design.
Friday Forum is a monthly speaker series sponsored by MSU Wonderlust, a lifelong learning program of MSU Continuing, Professional and Lifelong Learning. The Forum is hosted by the Bozeman Public Library.
