Join Jan Zauha, MSU Librarian, in exploring the Ivan Doig Papers & Archives. Jan will discuss how MSU came to acquire the archive, the digitizing of the Ivan Doig Papers and the many projects that have come out of the digital Doig archive, which so far include a Big Sky Country State Fair exhibit; the Doig Country symposium; student projects; and "Exploring Ivan Doig" discussion series. Jan will also give the audience an insider view about what is known about Ivan Doig thanks to this archive and how you can access and use this information.
Jan Zauha is Outreach, Instruction & Research Librarian for the MSU Library. She has been a faculty member in the library since 1995 when she left a library position at the University of Michigan to return west. Jan is from Idaho originally but has a master’s degree in English Literature from Clark University in Worcester, MA, and a master’s in library science from the University of Iowa. Jan is a subject librarian in the humanities and her outreach on campus and in the community builds collaborative relationships to bring people together to read, explore, and discuss new and classic texts. She leads several community reading groups and was awarded the Bozeman Public Library’s Cornerstone Award in 2012 for her work in this area. She has most recently been deeply involved in the promotion and exploration of the Ivan Doig Archive through a number of activities: as the leader for an on-going series of community discussions of his novels; as co-chair for the Ivan Doig Exhibit at the Big Sky Country State Fair in summer 2017; and as one of 3 lead planners for the Doig Country symposium at MSU in September 2017. She also works with MSU faculty and students to integrate the archive into the curriculum.
The MSU Retiree Association Brown Bag seminars are free and open to all retired staff & faculty, and their spouses.
