"Farey Recursion" is the topic by Dr. Eric Chesebro for the Department of Mathematics' Seminar
- Monday, April 23, 2018 from 4:10pm to 5:10pm
- Wilson Hall, 1-144 - view map
Dr. Eric Chesebro from the University of Montana will talk about a notion of recursive functions on the vertices of a tri-valent tree. He will describe several examples from number theory and low-dimensional topology in which this type of recursion arises. Along the way, the talk will visit the Stern-Brocot tree, continued fractions, Markov numbers, punctured tori, and 2-bridge links.
