Montana State University Academic Technology and Outreach has partnered with the Montana Photonics Industry Alliance (MPIA) to offer a full-day workshop for new and aspiring managers, particularly those in science and technology fields.
Management 101 introduces first-time managers, soon-to-be managers and aspiring managers to the fundamentals of functional management, including planning and forecasting; organizing and staffing; coordinating and teamwork; leadership and motivation; interviewing and hiring; setting goals; and giving feedback.
The instructor is Mark Carroll, a senior executive and consultant with more than 30 years of experience in the laser, photonic, energy and defense industries. He has held leadership positions at TRW Space Systems, Montana Instruments, Blackmore Sensors and Analytics, and New Focus. He has also guided strategic initiatives for firms such as ILX Lightwave and Oriel Instruments.
