Active Learning Basics: Re-Thinking Your Teaching to Promote Deeper Learning

Teaching with active learning pedagogies can move students to a deeper, more engaged learning experience where they activate higher-order thinking skills and learn from each other in an enriching, collaborative environment. In this workshop, you will actively learn about active learning pedagogies, including proven strategies and evidence-based, best practices for creating an active learning classroom.
Completing this workshop will earn 1 credit towards annual membership in the Center, 1 credit towards the Early Career Success and earn 1 credit towards the Certificate of Teaching Enhancement.
Attending this workshop allows faculty to achieve these Center for Faculty Excellence faculty learning outcomes:
- Synthesizing and applying knowledge of and research on how learning works to improve teaching and learning
- Using active learning pedagogies to support and advance higher-level (deeper) and more engaged learning
