Earth Science Seminar
- Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 12:15pm to 1:30pm
- Gaines Hall, 243 - view map
Join us on Thursday, September 6th, in 243 Gaines Hall from 12:15-1:30 for a presentation by MSU's own Dr. Eric Sproles entitled
"Testing hypotheses, constraining models, and identifying potential hydro-political conflict using measurements of the Earth’s gravitational field."
Coffee will be provided.
Description: NASA’s Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) revolutionized our ability to measure changes in the amount of water stored across and through the Earth’s surface. While GRACE’s measurements of gravitational fields are incredibly complex, the end product is simple and highly effective. This presentation provides research insights gained during the initial GRACE satellite mission, which span the environmental and social sciences. We will also look forward to the opportunities that await the recently launched GRACE Follow-On mission.
