Math Ed Seminar-"Analyzing Elementary Students' Perceptions of Math, Identity, and Expertise"
- Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 11:00am to 11:50am
- Wilson Hall, 1-138 - view map
Dr. Megan Wickstrom and Ms. Amber Yates will discuss how second-grade students defined mathematics and viewed themselves as learners during traditional instruction and also during a modeling task. Through qualitative analysis of one-on-one student interviews, we will discuss how mathematical modeling pressed on students' conceptions of mathematics, ideas of expertise, and their identity as mathematical learners.
