The MSU Wind Symphony will present a concert on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 7:30 pm in Reynolds Recital Hall.
The Montana State University School of Music Wind Symphony presents a unique concert-experience utilizing a variety of music, lighting, and sound, in a dark environment, to create an atmosphere that encourages listeners to explore the music’s capacity to express mood and story. The performance will include a mix of compositions that seek to highlight the many emotions and events—some real and some fictional—that surround the dark and extreme sides of humanity. This includes works based upon such stories as “The Lord of the Rings,” but also other, more introspective pieces, such as Bach’s “Come Sweet Death.” Of particular interest, is a new mash-up of Symphonic Death Metal music, composed especially for this performance by Dr. Jay Smith with the assistance of Music Technology Major, Spenser Potter. The one-hour concert will be presented without intermission, and is intended to be thoughtful, entertaining, and lively. In the spirit of the season, performers are encouraged to dress in goth-style costumes. Please join us for Wind Symphony “Goes Goth.”
Tickets are $10 General Admission and $5 for Students. Tickets are available at www.ticketpeak.com/msumusic or at the door.
