Abstract: High volume data is inevitable in cloud-based distributed computing environments. Processing and understanding this information before it becomes stale is critical for companies to stay at the forefront of industry. This has led to the new and exciting field of stream processing. This work is a survey of techniques from recent stream processing systems and how they handle large volume data. The systems will be critiqued and future research directions will also be discussed.
