Human Trafficking in the Gallatin Valley
- Friday, February 8, 2019 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm
- Bozeman Public Library
MSU Wonderlust will host a Friday Forum on Feb. 8 called, “Human Trafficking in the Gallatin Valley: Deception, Coercion, and Exploitation.” The event is free and open to the public. It begins at noon at the Bozeman Public Library.
Human trafficking is a bigger problem than we realize. Who is human trafficking affecting? How is it impacting our community? The Heart Initiative, an anti-human trafficking MSU student organization, is working to raise awareness about human trafficking in the Gallatin Valley and beyond.
A panel has been assembled to address human trafficking from three perspectives - prevention, protection, and prosecution. The panel includes representatives from: the Gallatin County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force; the US Department of Homeland Security; Haven, a non-profit organization providing services for survivors of sexual violence and abuse; an activist from the missing and murdered indigenous women and girls movement, and a local health care professional who helped draft the United Nations anti-human trafficking resolution.
This Friday Forum is presented in collaboration with the Bozeman Library Foundation and One Book One Bozeman, the Heart Initiative, and MSU Wonderlust. For more information visit the Wonderlust Website.
