This event has been canceled, but will be rescheduled at a later date.
As part of the Institute on Ecosystems' Distinguished Lecturer Series, Dr. Jean Dixon will give a lecture titled "Soil's Outer Limits: What Isotopes from Space Tell Us About the Sensitivity of Soils at Earth's Surface" at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 11 in the MSU Strand Union Building, Ballroom C.
Dr. Jean L. Dixon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences and the Montana Institute on Ecosystems at Montana State University. Her research focuses on the geomorphology and geochemistry of mountain soils. She couples geochemical and isotope analyses, field observations, and high-resolution topography to explore climate controls on landscape evolution and the relationships between the physical and chemical processes that produce and transform soils. She received her Ph.D. from Dartmouth College, her B.A. from Carleton College, and held research positions at Arizona State University, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences, and the University of California at Santa Barbara.
This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served beforehand.
