- Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm
- Belgrade Community Library, 106 N Broadway, Belgrade, MT 59714
MSU Wonderlust presents a public presentation at the Belgrade Community Library on March 21 called “A Half Century Later, a Look Back: America in 1968.”
Dr. Rob Maher will talk about the many prominent threads of 20th century America that converged in 1968 and explore how echoes of that year still linger in our in our country today. In 1968, the Vietnam war was in full swing, as was the anti-war movement. The country endured the assassination of two leaders and several riots. Fifty years on, how did 1968 shape what was to come for us individually and us as a nation? Are there lessons from 1968 that could illuminate our contemporary political and social landscape?
Dr. Maher is a professor of electrical and computer engineering at MSU who includes American history as one of his many research interests.
The talk is from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend, but registration is requested as seating is limited. Visit http://www.montana.edu/wonderlust and click “View all offerings” or go directly to https://eu.courses.montana.edu/CourseStatus.awp?&course=19SWL1968 to register.
