- Leon Johnson Hall, 346 - view map
This full day workshop is sponsored by the American Association for Teachers of German (AATG) and MSU Modern Languages and Literatures. During the workshop, we will learn about the Hutterite people of Montana through multiple lenses. The workshop will begin with a virtual photography lecture with Jill Brody from Rhode Island. She will discuss her mental, emotional, and physical process in photographing one of Montana's Hutterite communities. The lecture will be followed by a farm to table lunch where German teachers and students from around the state will cook a lunch with Hutterite produce, following a traditional recipe. After lunch will be a round-table discussion on challenges facing Hutterites today, as well as Hutterite contributions to Montana's food culture with MSU Professor Mary Murphy and History PhD student, Micah Chang.
