Diversity - Veterans
- Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 9:00am to 12:00pm
- Strand Union Building, Ballroom D - view map
Overview: During this workshop participants will learn about veteran trends in the post 9/11 era, and how these trends are affecting the veteran student body here in Montana. Instruction will address the stereotypes and biases that exist about veterans and the reality of the challenges that face veterans transitioning to civilian life. Finally, participants will engage in critical self-reflection to heighten awareness related to personal perceptions of veterans, explore biases, and learn how to support the intellectual and personal growth of our student veterans.
Why you should attend: MSU is proud of our military friendly status, and attending this workshop will help our campus strengthen its supportive community around our veterans. Participants will deepen their understanding about the challenges that student veterans may experience and learn strategies that promote their success in and outside the classroom.
