The MSU School of Art is hosting an exhibition that chronicles the archives of Sub Pop Records from January 8 to 31, 2020 in the Helen E. Copeland Gallery. This Seattle based independent music label has grown from humble beginnings in 1988, as pioneers of the grunge music movement, to become a legendary force in the independent music world.
In addition, MSU will host a visiting lecture by award-winning Sub Pop Records creative director Jeff Kleinsmith and senior art director Sasha Barr on Thursday, January 30 at Inspiration Hall in Norm Asbjornson Hall. This lecture from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. is free and open to the public and will be followed an artist reception from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Helen E. Copeland Gallery along with a Sub Pop Records pop-up store.
This exhibition chronicling three decades of independent music is curated by MSU Professor Jeffrey Conger and Sub Pop Creative Director Jeff Kleinsmith. All events are made possible by the support of Sub Pop Records, SCS Wraps and the MSU School of Art.
