Buenos Aires to Antarctica with Albatros Expeditions aboard The Ocean Atlantic
January 18—30, 2021 | From $9,150 per person, double occupancy.Journey to the final frontier aboard Albatros Expeditions’ newly renovated Ocean Atlantic. Begin your adventure with an included two-night Pre-Cruise Program. In Buenos Aires, tour the streets of Recoleta to see chic boutiques and Parisian-style homes, and enjoy a traditional Argentine dinner and tango show. Then, travel to Ushuaia, a city at the tip of South America. Here, you’ll discover Tierra del Fuego National Park and take a ride on the southernmost functioning railway on Earth. Embark the Ocean Atlantic and begin your voyage toward Antarctica—sail through the famed Drake Passage and anticipate landfall in the South Shetland Islands as you catch sight of wildlife through the observation deck windows. Spend two days exploring the South Shetland Islands on Zodiac raft excursions. Look for elephant seals and take in snowy cliffs rising from the sea on King George Island, and perhaps take a polar plunge near Deception Island, the caldera of an extinct volcano. Then, explore as far south as possible on the Antarctic Peninsula. Spot Weddell seals on Cuverville Island, and pass through the Lemaire Channel, a photographer favorite. Before returning to Ushuaia for your flight to Buenos Aires, pass back through the Drake Passage and cruise past Cape Horn, the point where the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans meet.
