- Museum of the Rockies, Hager - view map
Join us for this interesting and educational panel discussion around the history of the struggle for women's voting rights-- which culminated with the passage of the 19th Amendment-- as a key achievement for white women, but recognizing that many indigenous women and women of color were excluded from both the process and the outcomes of the fight for suffrage. This 100th anniversary is an opportunity to include these voices and their stories of suffrage, or lack thereof, to highlight the continued threats to women's rights today, and to contemplate the future of voting rights in the United States. Four distinguished panelists including MSU Professors Franke Wilmer and Tomomi Yamaguchi as well as Foward Montana's ED, Keirsten Iwai, will offer unique perspectives from a variety of fields, experiences, and activism. This event is sponsored by the Extreme History Project, Bozeman League of Women Voters, Bozeman Business and Professional Women, Montana National Organization for Women, the MSU President’s Commission on the Status of University Women, MSU Women’s Center, MSU Library, Montana Racial Equity Project, and KGVM.
