Youth Writing Camp

When:

Monday, July 13, 2020 to Friday, July 17, 2020, from 9:00am to 3:00pm

Description:

This camp is full for 2020.

COVID-19: Given the uncertainty, we are not offering a resident option for this camp this summer.

Montana State University’s Youth Writing Camp, presented by the Yellowstone Writing Project and MSU Continuing, Professional and Lifelong Learning, is not held in a traditional classroom setting and is instead filled with activities like walking field trips and writing games, as well as guidance and feedback throughout the writing process.

The camp is led by teachers and junior counselors from the Yellowstone Writing Project, which is based in MSU’s Department of English in the College of Letters and Science. Participating students will write in multiple genres throughout the camp.

The camp, which runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily, is open to students who will be entering grades 5 through 12 this fall. Participants will be in writing groups based on grade; 5th to 8th grade and 9th to 12th grade. A writing showcase will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 17, to allow parents to join the campers to celebrate their creativity.

Early bird registration runs through May 31. Registration will remain open until the camp is filled. Participants must bring their own lunches.
