Hans-Curt Flemming is a Professor Emeritus and founder of the Biofilm Centre at the University of Duisburg-Essen. He is a pioneer of biofilm research in Germany and has been studying biofilms for more than 30 years with enthusiasm that will be evident in his seminar. In this semester kick-off seminar Professor Flemming will present “Are biofilms really the dominant form of life of microorganisms on Earth?” quantifying the ubiquitous nature of biofilms on Earth and setting the tone for a Fall seminar series filled with leaders in the field of biofilm research from all over the globe.
