Virtual Workshop Series on Implementation of Research Grand Challenges at MSU

The Office of Research, Economic Development & Graduate Education presents a Virtual Workshop Series to kick off implementation of Research Grand Challenges at MSU -- the first of a number of workshops to embrace the grand challenges in the MSU strategic plan.
Monday, Oct. 26, will be a discussion panel on Philosophy Shaping Research and Transformative Innovations at MSU.
The rest of the week will focus on the Grand Challenge: Securing Montana's Future.
Tuesday, Oct. 27: Roadmap for the Applied Research Laboratory – current and future –and a discussion of survey results and considerations for framing growing the work and impact of the applied research at MSU.
Wednesday, Oct. 28: We will host a panel discussion: Science and Technology and Policy Challenges for National and Homeland Security, with invited panel members from government, industry and foundation perspectives including Department of Homeland Security, Air Force Research Laboratory, Sloan Foundation, and Raytheon Technologies.
Thursday, Oct. 29: A panel discussion with research faculty that are members of the Applied Research Laboratory Oversight Committee will share Key Take-Aways and Lessons Learned from Successful Applied Research Programs at MSU.
Friday, Oct. 30: Special guest speaker will be Dr. Mark Lewis, Director of Defense Research and Engineering for Modernization, Department of Defense. His topic will be "National security challenges – future S&T and innovation needs."
This virtual workshop is offered from 12-1 p.m. each day, Monday through Friday, Oct. 26-30.
