IACMI Offers Free CNC Machine Training for 2021
The Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) is offering a new computer numerically controlled machine training program for manufacturers in spring 2021. The online curriculum was developed by Dr. Tony Schmitz, Professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Joint Faculty at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
An optional weeklong in-person pilot bootcamp training in summer 2021 is offered in collaboration with Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville, Tennessee. Future in-person training will be offered across the U.S. after this pilot project.
This training is part of the America's Cutting Edge (ACE) program, a national initiative for machine tool technology development and advancement supported by the Department of Defense Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment program at ORNL. The ACE program's intent is to train the next generation machine tool workforce, including future manufacturing engineers, machine tool designers, entrepreneurs and machinists.
The program is free, but registration is required. Be sure to let your manufacturing clients know about this free training opportunity! Registration is open for this Free CNC Machine training and will remain open through the first few months of 2021.
Note that the online training is a stand-alone offering. All students who finish the online training with a grade of 70% or higher will receive a certificate of completion from IACMI and a copy of Machining Dynamics: Frequency Response to Improved Productivity. The in-person training is completely optional.
