The Annual MSU Campus Commuter Challenge
April 5th - April 11th - Open to all students and staff on campus.
Why? We are all about promoting active, sustainable, and healthy forms of transportation to work, to play, for errands, and just to get outside. Biking, walking, rolling, carpooling, bus riding, and scooting provide many different benefits. You can get fresh air, have fun, burn calories, reduce stress, save money, reduce your environmental impact, get helmet hair, and even get a great tan. This year, during these different and sometimes difficult times, we want to encourage people to “get up and get out.”
What’s new? We’ve added a bunch of new modes of transportation including scooter, skateboarding, and roller blading.
What’s the game? Log trips that you take every day during the duration of the challenge. Standings are determined by the total number of trips taken, so the challenge is to get as many of your friends and coworkers to sign up and log trips! We can help set-up a subnetwork if that is the case.
What counts as a “trip”? A one-way journey to or from work, the grocery store or other utilitarian trip made by bike, bus, scooter, skateboard, walking, or carpool. If you bike both to work and home, that counts as two trips. Also, new for this year commute with a friend or coworker and get a bonus point. The maximum number of trips that you can log in a day is 6! You can use the Commute Tracker App, Strava, and Waze to track your trips!
When do we start? The MSU Campus Commuter Challenge starts on April 5th and ends on April 11th. Any trips taken during this time period can be logged and will count towards your team’s total as well as your chance to win an awesome prize from one of our local sponsors
