Honors Presents: Professor Douglas Fischer – Journalism in a Post-Fact, Post-Science World
- Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 2:15pm to 3:15pm
- Gaines Hall 043
A significant slice of our community is taking a horse de-wormer to fight Covid. The Jan 6 Capitol riots have been recast as a normal tourist visit. The denial playbook honed by Big Tobacco and refined by climate deniers has been taken up with vigor by those insisting we unmask in schools and businesses. How do we build community when so many versions of "truth," "facts" and "objectivity" exist?
Please be sure to bring a notebook and pencil.
Douglas Fischer directs Environmental Health Sciences, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to driving science in public policy and discussion on environmental health, justice and climate issues. He has spent 25 years in journalism, including stints at the Oakland (Calif.) Tribune and Newsweek. He lives with his wife, two children, dog and six chickens in Bozeman, Mont., where he is an elected member of the Bozeman School District Board of Trustees.
