The main purpose of the research office is to support the research mission within the College of Nursing by providing pre- and post- award services to the College of Nursing faculty. This includes:

  • Pre-award services
    • identifying funding sources
    • proposal reviews and proof reading
    • facilitating a peer review of a grant proposal
    • assisting with grant submissions
    • assisting with grant applications forms
    • developing budgets and writing budget justifications
    • writing select components of applications as appropriate such as bio-sketches, resources pages, budget justifications, etc.
    • gathering letters of support
    • participating in grant planning meetings as requested/needed
    • gathering required sub-award paperwork
    • assisting with graphic design for flowcharts, timelines, maps, etc. for application
    • entering and tracking proposals through the university’s central electronic proposal clearance system
    • acting as a general resource person for items related to sponsored programs
  • Post-award services
    • budget accounting
    • budget compliance
    • budget management
    • ensuring policy and procedure compliance
    • ensuring procurement compliance and providing purchasing assistance
    • time and effort reporting and tracking
    • participating in grant meetings as requested/needed
    • initiating and managing project subawards
    • ensuring grant account is established at central offices
    • facilitating the closing a sponsored program
    • assisting with required reporting as requested/needed
    • assisting with transferring a grant from another institution
    • acting as a general resource person for items related to sponsored programs
    • acting as the point of contact for the College with MSU’s central Office of Sponsored Programs
    • acting as the liaison between the College and other central university offices
    • administering and managing the CON Block Brant Program and the Helen Jacobsen Lee Endowment
    • assisting with the graphic design of items such as posters, flyers, brochures, and presentations as related to dissemination activities
