MECHANICS & WELDING CONTEST

Mechanics Event
Check in: 8:30 a.m.Contest: 9-11:00
Registration: $20/individual, includes lunch, $10/individual to add welding contest registration
The contest will consist of the following practicums worth 30 points each:
- Carpentry – wall layout and questions
- Arc Welding – T-joint and bead with 7018
- Small Engines – valve train troubleshooting and parts ID
- Equipment – combine parts and service.
- Wiring – 3-way switch and service entrance panel ID
- Knowledge – written exam
There will be Junior (7-9) and Senior (10-12) divisions. Competitors will have the option of taking a 15-point deduction for the practicum to receive a hint for the practicum (ie. diagram for the wiring practicum, word bank for the parts ID) to make the contest a good learning opportunity regardless of experience level. The team score will consist of 4 individual scores. There will be no team problem. Rotations will be 15 minutes long.
Welding Event
Check in: 8:30-10:00 a.m. Contest: 10-12:30 p.m.
Registration: $20/individual, includes lunch
The contest will consist of two practicums worth 30 points each:
- Arc Welding – T-joint and bead with 7018 (students in the mechanics contest will use their score from that practicum)
- MIG Welding – small cube
- Plasma Cutting – cutting holes or squares
The contest will also include a team problem worth 120 points, with each individual receiving ¼ of their team score. The team problem will include fabrication with MIG welding and a bill of materials. There will be Junior (7-9) and Senior (10-12) divisions.
Prizes will be given for the top individuals and teams in both contests, in addition to the top individuals and teams overall.
Sales Contest

Contest: 11:00-1:30
Registration: $10/individual, includes lunch
This contest will use the state sales product (Miller welding products). The contest will consist of the following:
- Team Prep – 15 minutes
- Team Presentation – 15 minutes
- Individual Sale – 20 minutes
- Customer Service Call – 20 minutes
- Written Exam
There will be Junior (7-9) and Senior (10-12) divisions.
Livestock Judging Event

Contest: 9:00-2:00
Registration: $10/individual, includes lunch
Contest will include 9 classes of beef cattle, including 3 sets of reasons.
Individuals wishing to participate in Livestock Judging and Sales schedules will be accommodated.
There will be divisions for beginners, juniors, and seniors.
