Meat & Greet and Fair Concessions:  Challenging Champs

Meat & Greet

The club assigned to Meat & Greet will set up before the Meat & Greet, serve food, and clean up after the event.  The duties should be divided into the following: 

  • 4-6 p.m.  Setup for the event and serve food. 
  • 5-7 p.m.  Serve food and clean up after the event. 

The club with the concession's assignment can choose to:

  • Plan and operate concessions and keep the profits.

Or

  • Work with a licensed food purveyor to provide concessions.

Concessions

If club is providing concessions:

  • It is recommended to work with the county sanitarian to obtain a food permit and food safety guidance upon menu review.
  • Clubs should train their workers in foodsafety, customer service, money handling and making change.

If club is working with a Food Purveyor(s):

  • The club should request in-county food purveyors first and can check with the Teton County Sanitarian for a list of licensed food purveyors.
  • The club should contact Food Purveyor(s) to see if assistance from club is needed.

Using the Weatherbeater Kitchen:

  • Clubs who plan to use the kitchen or who plan for others to use the kitchen should clean and sanitize the kitchen before the start of the fair.

Fair Project Display-Pavilion:  Old Agency

  • Projects are displayed, and decorations are put up following interview judging.
  • Please wait until all judging is completed.
  • Clubs decide how to best exhibit fair entries.
    • A champions area is generally created to display the exhibits that were ranked as rosette and division winner.
    • The office will supply tablecloths, easels, risers, manets/pipes, etc.
    • No tape, nails, staples, etc. can be used on the Pavilion wall.

Pavilion Cleaning After Fair:  Spring Creek

  • Clubs cleaning the Pavilion following fair may either do so on Saturday night or Sunday following the Fair and should communicate their plan with the Extension agents.
  • A cleaning list will be supplied with specific details for bother cleaning the Pavilion and organizing                    4-H/Extension supplies.
  • Depending on the number of people who assist, this assignment will take 2-4 hours.

Fair Facilities Management and Greeter Scheduling:  Eager Eagles & Prairie Stars

  • Arrange Pavilion greeters.  Work with Extension to determine schedule.
  • Plan and provide hosptiality for judges at Pavilion during interview judging. 
    • Work with Extension to arrange budget, payment and times. 
    • Hospitality for judges varies depending on time of judging.  Could include a light snack (bars, fruit) and water or a light meal.
  • Manage the physical facilities at the Weatherbeater and Pavilion.
    • Daily loading of paper towels, toilet paper, soap, dumping garbages
    • Sweeping off bleachers
    • Cleaning cement pad.  Water spray bottles should be used to keep dust down.
    • Managing inside and outside areas for cleanliness, safety, traffic, etc.
    • Safety announcements can be made prior to and during fair.
