Midterms already! As we reach the halfway point it can be easy to become overwhelmed with tests, the rest of this semester, and even what next semester will become. Studying for your tests and relaxing during the upcoming spring break can be relieving. GEAR UP students receive free tutoring through Smarty Cats Tutoring and are encouraged to check out the Allen Yarnell Center for Student Success as they provide free success advising and financial education for GEAR UP students. During spring break, take some time for yourself and look ahead with aspirations and confidence. Next year can be overwhelming with needing to find housing and needing to maintain yourself as a student. Study hard for your midterms and enjoy your spring break so that you return rested and ready to finish the semester out strong.

I plan to study for midterms by...

  • “...going to the library. I am not productive at home.” Natalie, MSU Junior

  • “...taking a blank sheet of paper and writing down everything I know about my essay prompt. ” Libby, MSU Sophomore

  • “...finding youtube videos pertaining to my topics to watch for a brief summary. ” Kailey, MSU Senior

Meet a GEAR UP Student

Kaden Billin

Kaden Billin is an MSU Freshman from Hardin, MT. At MSU, Kaden studies Anthropology. Outside of school, Kaden works as a desk clerk for his dorm, reads, does art, and studies history. After college, he plans to work in archaeology, work in a museum, write books, and maybe even teach one day! GEAR UP has been impactful for Kaden by providing books, free printing, and helpful advice for success. Kaden takes inspiration from his brother and his friends, who helped him realize that a lifetime of pursuing something he’s passionate about is more fulfilling than settling for money.
