At Montana Models, we keep campers busy! Most days, campers will dig into a modeling activity, work on their own community projects, hear from guest speakers, and explore Montana State University's campus. Check out a day in the life of Montana Models below!

MODELING COMPLEX SYSTEMSWilson Hall

Have you ever noticed that sometimes there is a traffic jam, but with no obvious cause? Have you ever wondered how disease spreads through a population? Or why one ecosystem thrives while another withters? We'll learn about modeling the behavior of complex systems through agent-based modeling.

10:30 AM - 10:40 AM

BREAK

10:40 AM - 11:30 AM

TEAM WORK TIME - Wilson Hall Classrooms

It is time to dive in to your community-based modeling problem! What makes this situation interesting or problematic? Whose perspectives do you need to consider? What mathematical or statistical question are you trying to answer? We are here to learn alongside and support you as you seek to make a difference in your communities!

11:30 AM - 12:30 PM

LUNCH - Rendezvous Dining Pavillion

12:30 PM - 2:00 PM

2:00 PM - 2:45 PM

TEAM WORK TIME - Wilson Hall Classrooms

How are you using mathematics or statistics to investigate your problem? What tools might you need? What processes are you going to try? Let us know how we can support you as you work! Take a break in this time slot as needed.

2:45 PM - 4:00 PM

MODELING ELECTIVES - Locations Vary

Do you want to dive into Agent-Based Modeling a little more? Think more about sampling? Attend an admissions presentation? You will have a chance to sign up for a modeling elective during this time slot.

4:00 PM - 5:15 PM

TEAM WORK TIME - Wilson Hall Classrooms

Maybe you need to do a little research about your problem, use a computer lab, or just start trying out some of your strategies. We’re here to help!
