The weather station is on top of Cobleigh Hall (Google Maps for Cobleigh Hall) on the campus of Montana State University in Bozeman. Our latitude is 45.67° N and our longitude is 111.05° W. The elevation on the roof is 5000ft (1524m).

The 6-story rooftop location could affect the weather readings slightly (evidence to date shows minimal impact). Despite this, the rooftop is the best place for our weather station, since we are using it to calibrate weather balloons launched from the roof, and for comparison with data from optical sensors that also reside on the roof.

The official national weather service data for 'Bozeman' comes from the Belgrade airport 14 kilometers away from Cobleigh Hall and 133 meters lower in elevation. These two locations can experience very different weather.
