Description of Request

Submitted By: Colin Shaw, Director of Undergraduate Scholars Program

Currently, USP staff, Colin Shaw and Rose Dormanen, share an office and anteroom in AJM 121/121A. 121 serves as Rose Dormanen’s office and 121A serves as Colin Shaw's office and Earth Science (ESCI) research microscopy laboratory. AJM 121A does not have ideal conditions for the microscope due to the presence of light and dust/pollen particles coming from the windows. This arrangement also limits undergraduate and graduate access to the microscope. The USP front office in AJM 121 (anteroom) is inadequate for the student support activities, such as small group meetings, typically undertaken and lacks the kind of visibility that a student serving program like USP requires. Therefore, the client requests the use of AJM 113 for Rose Dormanen’s office and USP activities, which will free up the space occupied by Rose Dormanen in AJM 121 for use as the research microscopy lab. AJM 113 is an office space that has been vacant for more than 90 days; Stephanie Lindsay from the leadership Fellows Program was the prior occupant, and she has since been relocated to Reid Hall 242. Colin Shaw would maintain the use of 121A as a private office. Prior to this USP also had Renne 044 as a temporary allocation for use during the planning for NCUR. The Space Management Committee allocated the space through May 2020, and USP has since vacated that space over the summer.
