Description of Request

Submitted By: Sarah Maki; Associate Dean of Gallatin College

Hamilton 229 is an instructional computer lab previously utilized by Gallatin College for their Design Drafting and Interior Design programs. A few years ago, the scheduling of the lab transitioned to the Registrar, with UIT Student Labs continuing to offer equipment and desktop support. Since then the Gallatin College design courses have been relocated to other labs across campus better suited for instruction, and the room has primarily been used as an open lab for students. These open labs have now transitioned to other labs as well, primarily Culbertson 101, leaving Hamilton 229 underutilized. The college looked at adding aviation software to the computers to support open lab time for the Aviation program, but the computers were too old. After receiving funding for aviation software (and additional aviation simulators and computers), Gallatin College proposes to move the NTT workspaces into Hamilton 229, and to utilize Hamilton 128 as a Student Resource Facility for aviation simulators and 1-2 NTT workspaces that will work to support prospective students and aviation students.
